Shorts Program
A series of short films by U.S. and International students.
Documentary/Gay and Lesbian Cinema/World of Docs
A young man is followed in his process of becoming a woman through a transsexual operation in Iran, up to and beyond his operation. We meet his boyfriend, other transsexuals; among them, a woman becoming a man, the doctors, a priest and his family. All of them are religious, all of them are changing lives, but why would a ‘free’ man choose to become an ‘unfree’ woman and lead a veiled life from now on? A portrait of schizophrenic lives in a schizophrenic environment. * Note: “The Birthday” will be preceded by the short film “Smalltown Boy”. North Florida Premiere
Coming of Age/Made in the USA/Short Film/The Short of It
Set in 1987, a young American boy finds the truest form of comradeship and inspiration from none other than Mikhail Gorbachev.
Gay and Lesbian Cinema/Short Film/The Short of It/Viva Cinema
Lives are forever changed one night on a used-car lot.
Coming of Age/Cuts Like a Knife/Made in the USA/Short Film/The Short of It
A young man gets into trouble while working and looking after an old gas station.
Cuts Like a Knife/Europa! Europa!/Made in the USA/On the Edge/Short Film/The Short of It

Documentary/Gay and Lesbian Cinema/Made in the USA/World of Docs
John Sterback is a member of the most politically incorrect subculture in America. He's a self-described 'ex-gay,' someone who claims to have changed his sexual orientation from gay to straight. Richard Cohen is John's inspiration and represents the public face of the 'ex-gay' movement while hiding his own controversial past. “Chasing the Devil” uncovers the truth behind the claims of reparative therapists who attack gay identity as nothing more than a developmental disorder that can be fixed with a healthy dose of therapy and prayer. Joannne Highley and Peterson Toscano take viewers deeper inside the world of ‘ex-gay’ ministries with their journeys inside New York City's LIFE Ministry, where demons are believed to cause homosexuality and exorcisms are the preferred form of treatment. East Coast Premiere
Cuts Like a Knife/Europa! Europa!/Made in the USA/The Short of It
A surrealistic tale about a coffin maker looking for revenge.
A Moment of Silence Please/Made in the USA/Short Film/The Short of It
Jeni and Peyman are the best and brightest of Huntington Elementary. When school announces a contest with a trip to 'Space Camp' as the top prize, their lifelong rivalry reaches new heights.
